Car Shredder Retrofit
Problem:
A scrap processing company’s whole car shredder was experiencing continuous overload, causing downtime and damage to the 1000 Hp drive motor. They had been quoted a solution costing over $125,000 and taking 7-10 working days to install.
Process:
- The equipment was observed in operation and production and maintenance personnel were consulted.
- A system retrofit design was submitted and approved.
- Total (including installation) cost < $10,000
- Retrofit was installed in one day on the weekend. No production time was lost.
- We consulted with customer maintenance personnel during installation and emphasized proper maintenance and troubleshooting of the system.
Results:
- Overload condition was resolved.
- Production increased by 20%
